Macbook Pro 15″ Battery exchange
Monday, July 31st, 2006So, my battery stopped working two weeks ago, it’s completely charged, shows everything ok, except for one thing: it’s not working. So, I can’t tell how happy I was, when I’ve read about 15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Exchange Program. All you have to do is fill the details for your computer and battery (battery part number is A1175, and 11 digit serial number ends with U7SA, U7SB or U7SC). Mine ends with U7SC, so I quickly ordered new one and I am waiting for my new battery to come shortly.
m600 and iSync
Saturday, July 22nd, 2006Recently I’ve lost my Nokia 7610 and decided to buy a new phone. I bought a brand new Sony Ericsson m600i, mostly due to it’s nice look and my disappointment with the Nokia E61 which I wanted to buy first. Also as I’ve remembered from the past, Apple has every model of Sony Ericsson phones in it’s great application iSync. To my disappointment, iSync didn’t worked with this phone at the moment. So, that was the problem: i have 500+ contacts in the address book which have to be transferred to the m600i. First I’ve tried to save entire file as .vcf from address book (2.7mb!) and sent it to the phone. Phone said that “the file has a wrong format”. Ok, I’ve decided to install Parallels Desktop and to install bundled phone software for windows. Several hours later I’ve got the knowledge, that Parallels Desktop doesn’t work fine with the usb and bluetooth connections – actually it would be better to say it doesn’t work with usb and bluetooth. Internet forums, questions and answers didn’t helped. Then I’ve decided to try uploading several contacts directly from Address Book. To my surprise, I had a success with it, then I though that address book .vcf file was just too large for the phone. I’ve tried uploading ten, fifty and a hundred contacts at once and it did worked! After that sitting a little bit relaxed, I’ve selected entire address book contacts (command-a) and uploaded it to the phone through address book (card -> send these cards). I hope this solution will help someone lucky enough not to spend several hours trying.
